  1. The Salad…it hates me

    Why is it we resist changing something that we love but that we know doesn’t serve us? My acupuncturist has told me several times raw veggies and salads do not like me. My digestive system doesn’t seem to care for them. My Ayurvedic doc also told me my body hates raw veggies and salads. In Chinese medicine it’s called liver qi stagnation I believe. In Ayurveda it’s a Vata imbalance. Basically….my body hates raw veggies and salads!

    So you’d think I’d stop having my daily salad for lunch. Oh but I love them so! After I returned from Summit I felt I needed to detox from the Vegas hotel recycled air so I went on two Shakeology’s a day, replacing my lunch salad with one. Miraculously my stomach felt better! But of course I had to experiment! So I had a salad one day. Yup, no good! So for the past month or so I’ve been having my breakfast, two shakes and dinner. Stomach seems good! I went to Trader Joes the other day and was drawn to the lettuce. And yes, I had myself a nice salad for lunch yesterday. Oh so yummy! And yes, my body revolted about two hours later. Why do I torture myself when I clearly cannot eat them?! Because I love them and want to eat them! I guess I can now relate to those that resist changing their diet due to food allergies. It’s funny though because I got rid of dairy, soy and wheat because I know I’m sensitive to them. I didn’t resist that change and I love bread! So why the salad?!

    Maybe if I drink enough Shakeology over time my body will accept a salad every now and then?! Stay tuned….

  2. Mmmm… Chocolate Shakeology bark!

    No, I didn’t have any but boy do I want some BAD!
    Raining here again! Do I sound like a broken record? Surpringly my pain level was not bad for the first part of the day. Then my cat got loose in the holistic vets parking lot and I had to chase her and roll under a truck to get her! Pain levels are back needless to say.
    Today I noticed my skin has a glow and my eyes are brighter. I have been noticing I’m less bloated. I’m down about 2.4 pounds. I honestly did not expect to lose much during this process as I was already vegan and lost some when I switched.

    For breakfast I had my fruit.

    For lunch I had a nice big salad with leftover asparagus from last night. For a snack I had four dates which were fabulous! I was definitely hungry for dinner but the detox helps with the hunger.

    For dinner I had steamed broccoli and quinoa lentil pilaf.

    Had my tea and headed to bed. I’m a bit hungry. Going to suck down some more water! Massage tomorrow!

  3. The Hungry Monster…

    Day 5 of the Ultimate Reset and I’m feeling a bit hungry.
    I slept in a bit this morning, walked the dog and took a p.m. Yoga class. Digestion seems to be on track today. I could hug my herbalist for her treatment yesterday!! My headache seems to be going away but my pain levels are still high. It is still damp and rainy here, but hoping to see the sun tomorrow!!

    Onto the food!
    For breakfast I had oatmeal. I’m so going to miss oatmeal!

    I was definitely hungry by lunch and had a nice big salad!

    I had my snack before yoga, an apple with almond butter. Oh how I love almond butter!!

    Dinner was miso soup and stir fried veggies over brown rice. Thankfully I had leftover veggies from last night and I made a big batch of brown rice earlier in the week, so dinner prep was easy! I added some spinach and celery to the miso soup for some extra oomph!

    Tonite being my regular splurge night was tough mentally. I had a cup of herbal tea and I’ve been sucking down water.

    Day 6 tomorrow and week 1 is almost over!!
