Growing up as a young girl, my role model was my mother. She loved to go jogging, and she bought me my first pair of running shoes when I was ten. I always admired her dedication, and to this day, she is still out pounding the pavement at 4 a.m. every morning!
I have always remained active by running, going to the gym, even competing in some bodybuilding competitions. But, somewhere along the way, I developed a disordered way of dealing with food. The how’s and whys aren’t important to me at this point in my life, but what is important is how I dealt with the issue… not well at first. They say that things happen for a reason. Maybe that’s why chronic pain entered my life in 2004, shortly after completing a marathon. I was told not to run, that it was making my condition worse. That, and a subsequent surgery, made me weak, afraid of getting fat and looking for something to fill the void left from not being able to run. My sister ordered P90X off an infomercial and I laughed at her. After all, who orders a workout program off an infomercial?! Well… a few months later when I saw what incredible results she was getting, I wanted in! I knew I couldn’t do P90X because I was too weak after surgery, so I started with Power 90 and this is how my journey began. I did the workouts, got stronger and I learned what healthy eating looked like. You mean I actually could eat three meals a day AND snacks and lose weight? WOW!
Fast forward to today. I have done nearly all of the Beachbody programs. I finally got answers to my chronic pain and was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 2011 and chronic Lyme disease in 2015. But my body is so much stronger today then it was when I started this journey. Mentally, I am stronger, and exercise makes me feel better! I won’t say that some days are not a struggle, but now I have the tools to deal with the chatter that sometimes enters my mind. Despite the pain that I deal with daily, I got back into running and have run several half marathons! I truly believe I would not have been able to do this without the help of the Beachbody products! I became a Beachbody Coach because I truly believe in the effectiveness of what we have to offer. EVERYONE can use a shake filled with superfoods!!! However, I found I needed more tools to help my fellow Fibro warriors. So I went to IIN to become a Health Coach. I found the schooling there to be very limited to having my clients eat kale and drink more water. And while these are all great suggestions, I yearned for more knowledge to help my clients. Since I was diagnosed with Fibro myself, I was always very interested in Functional Medicine and had been to a few practitioners myself. I found the The School for Applied Functional Medicine and have never looked back! I’m such a geek when it comes to Functional Medicine and it is truly my passion. I am now a Functional Medicine Practitioner and getting awesome results for my clients every day! My mission has and always will be to help Fibromyalgia warriors be THEIR best self and to teach them how manage their condition through diet, exercise, supplementation and lifestyle changes. But I am now educated on how to help others, with a wide variety of health conditions to do the same. Some of my specialties include hormone issues, migraines, allergies, diabetes, auto immune dynamics, chronic Lyme, CFS, adrenal fatigue, Fibromyalgia etc. For myself, I don’t believe medication is the answer and I’m living proof you can manage any condition naturally if you are your own advocate.
I’m definitely not the same person I was before I was diagnosed. I have met so many wonderful people along the way. I love hearing that I inspired someone to change their health and it warms my heart when someone thanks me for helping them. Please be sure to check out the testimonials on this site. It’s also an inspiration to me when someone that was feeling like there was no hope is starting to feel better and has hope again! It is my passion to help others, just like me, lead a less painful existence. When I can do that I am truly honored.
I’d love to have you join me in the journey. If you’d like to work with me please reach out. I look forward to hearing from you.
