  1. The Hungry Monster…

    May 4, 2012 by Heather

Day 5 of the Ultimate Reset and I’m feeling a bit hungry.
I slept in a bit this morning, walked the dog and took a p.m. Yoga class. Digestion seems to be on track today. I could hug my herbalist for her treatment yesterday!! My headache seems to be going away but my pain levels are still high. It is still damp and rainy here, but hoping to see the sun tomorrow!!

    Onto the food!
For breakfast I had oatmeal. I’m so going to miss oatmeal!

I was definitely hungry by lunch and had a nice big salad!

I had my snack before yoga, an apple with almond butter. Oh how I love almond butter!!

Dinner was miso soup and stir fried veggies over brown rice. Thankfully I had leftover veggies from last night and I made a big batch of brown rice earlier in the week, so dinner prep was easy! I added some spinach and celery to the miso soup for some extra oomph!

Tonite being my regular splurge night was tough mentally. I had a cup of herbal tea and I’ve been sucking down water.

Day 6 tomorrow and week 1 is almost over!!

  2. Bunny envy….

    May 3, 2012 by Heather

This morning as I was giving Dwiggins his morning slice of banana I found myself jealous of the little guy!

Today I’m feeling, shall we say, a little backed up? Hey, we are talking about a cleanse right? The topic was bound to come up! The headache is still kind of lingering there, but it’s not as bad as it was. And my pain levels are up. But it has been damp and rainy here since Monday so it is hard to tell what is the fibro and what is the Reset. I went to acupuncture today so I’m hoping that helps with all of the above! I also got my yoga in and a walk with the dog.

I had fruit and a piece of flax bread for breakfast. The guide called for yogurt but since I don’t do dairy I added some coconut milk to my fruit. One thing I learned…I need more than fruit for breakfast! I was a hungry gal by lunch.

My version of today’s lunch was the lentil lime salad the guide called for, leftover japanese cucumber salad from last night and some avocado.

I had half a serving of Tropical Shakeology for a snack because I felt like my body needed it. I miss my daily Shakeology fix!!

And for dinner I had quinoa and stir fried veggies and a cucumber tomato salad.

Tomorrow is usually my splurge night so I’m expecting that to be a bit challenging mentally. We all know what keeps us on track and that, for me, does.

    Until tomorrow!

    Be well!

  3. Got lentils?

    May 2, 2012 by Heather

Day 3 of the Ultimate Reset and my migraine is much better! I’m having some soreness but I really think its due mostly to the damp weather we’ve been having. Slept in a bit this morning and did my yoga. Stayed low key today because I didn’t want the migraine to get worse. I didn’t take anything for it as the Reset recommends abstaining if you can.

So last night I made lunch for today and tomorrow, the lentil lime salad. Well I misread the recipe and made a boatload of green lentils! It’s a good thing they freeze well!

Today I had the oatmeal for breakfast. I made sure it was a cup but when I reheated it in the pan with the strawberries it really expanded! I swear it was a cup….really!!

Lunch was the lentil lime salad and a salad. Not the biggest fan of the lentil salad. I love lentils, just not this particular recipe. We can’t love them all right?

Missed my snack today because the timing was all off due to the sleeping in.

Dinner took a bit to make as I opted to make the hearty vegetable miso soup instead of the regular miso soup. And my nori rolls were not rolls, but they still tasted good! I really enjoyed the hearty vegetable miso soup!

Challenges thus far: I miss my workouts and chocolate Shakeology. I’m still doing yoga and as much as I love yoga, it’s not the same for me. I’m also missing bananas and dates! You hear that? Yup, I’m whining! Also, I love to cook but I make a lot of soups, stews, chilies, one pot meals that make several servings. I often freeze the rest for a quick dinner. So this way of cooking i.e., several dishes at one meal with different prep is new and challenging for me. And here I thought I had it made. Ha! Will I go back to my method after the Reset? Yes! Do I think that there is anything wrong with their method? Heck no! It just doesn’t work for me long term. I am, however, marking the recipes in the book I will be adding to my arsenal. So far they are the black bean tacos and hearty vegetable miso soup!

    Off to get some rest!

    Be well!

  4. Chocolate covered strawberry. 86 the chocolate.

Great big shout out to Michael for the title of this post!

Today was day 2 of the Ultimate Reset. I woke up with a headache, feeling exhausted, and feeling like I slept on my neck wrong. Not sure what can be attributed to the Reset and what is the fibro though as we had some rain today. When I went downstairs to feed the gang I started getting shaky and sweaty. That went away and I went upstairs to do some yoga. Then after my shower I had the chills. I started feeling a bit better throughout the day. Still have the headache though.
The meals today were fantastic! I ended up having 1/2 a tropical Shakeology for a snack because I was missing it. I tried to pretend it was a Chocolate. Alas….it didn’t work!
With the rain today Mia and I only got in a short walk. I found myself very antsy and feeling like I needed to move.

Enough about me! You want to see the food right?

This was breakfast. I made a bit too much oatmeal but I ate it anyway because I was hungry. That is one thing I’m struggling with. I never measure anything out. I eat what I know my body needs so that part has been tough.

Lunch was another yummy salad that I ate in the car. I had planned on eating it at my clients house but Mia was destroying the client doggies toys and I had to remove her from the house.

And dinner was to die for! I could eat these “tacos” every night. My taco was on the bottom because there was no way all those ingredients were fitting in that little taco. Oh, and lemon on kale is fabulous! Who knew? Pine nuts were also a nice touch. These ones were 30 seconds from being burnt…..sometimes I forget about things in the oven.

Lunch is already made for tomorrow. I kind of made too many lentils, but we shall save that story for tomorrow!

    Be well!

  5. Not a Vegan Today?

    May 1, 2012 by Heather

Day 1 of the Ultimate Reset is in the books! This morning I did some Yoga and this afternoon I went for a walk with the dog. Today I opted out of being vegan for a day and I ate the eggs for breakfast and the salmon for dinner. They were both fantastic and I can’t remember the last time I had either. However, I felt “heavy” the whole day. This tells me my body really does appreciate being Vegan.

The supplements were easy for me as I’m used to taking a bunch anyway. I had a bit of a sore throat after the oxygen but I’m not sure if that is allergies or in fact the oxygen. This evening I felt a bit dizzy but again, that could be allergies. I also noticed I’m a bit testy! I am attributing that to missing my workouts and Chocolate Shakeology!!

    Here’s Breakfast:

Lunch was a nice big salad that I loved:

And dinner was fabulous. The marinade on the salmon made the meal! My asparagus was a bit crispy because I turned the steamer on but forgot to plug it in, then I was too hungry to wait to eat!!

Onto tomorrow! I WILL be eating Vegan!

    Be well!!
